SYNOPSIS:

HKN Centennial Conference Goals

This leadership conference will help students gain insights into the following areas:

  • Building on existing strengths
  • Utilizing technical skills to build your business or organization
  • Adapting to a constantly changing business and technological environment

HKN Centennial Celebration

This Centennial Conference will explore the foundation of HKN and ways to ensure it remains relevant. As the elite of the ECE class each year, HKN has a duty to lead, teach, grow, and integrate itself into society, just as technology has integrated itself into our daily lives. The core of the Centennial Conference will focus on teaching HKN board members how to improve their leadership skills, how to build organizations, and how to use their technical skills to develop technology and create new business opportunities.

World-famous Keynote Speakers and Panelists

Invited keynote speakers include AMD co-founder Jerry Sanders, Science and Technology Fellow Dr. Steve Watkins, and Intel Senior VP Sunlin Chou. A prestigious leadership panel will represent a variety of disciplines ranging from the government to business to education. The invited panelists include WSJ Technology reporter David Hamilton, Motorola VP David Borth, IEEE Managing Director Cecilia Jankowski, South Dakota S&T Authority Interim Executive Director Dick Gowen, and University of Michigan Department Head David Munson. Students will have opportunities to engage in group and one-on-one discussions and to learn from the experiences of these prominent leaders.

Professional, Nationally Renowned Workshops

To complement the outstanding speakers and leadership panelists, HKN students will have many opportunities to participate in activities tailored toward their background in engineering. The leadership center representatives from Wharton Business School as well as University of Illinois staff are working with us to design a set of workshops that will focus upon the strengths of engineering that can be applied to business.

Chapter Presentations

Each chapter will be invited to make a presentation that highlights their campus activities, current projects, and future goals.

Hi-tech Tours:

Renowned UIUC professors will open their labs to demonstrate cutting-edge technologies to all conference attendees. This includes state of the art simulators and “The Cave,” an immersive virtual reality facility at NCSA.

Network, Relax, and Have Fun

A Welcome BBQ is the perfect time to network with current HKN members and alumni as well as distinguished visiting speakers and guests.

A banquet commemorating the centennialanniversary is open to all members. HKN Alpha Chapter, in conjunction with HKN national, will host. After the banquet, participants will be entertained by one of UIUC’s finest comedy groups.
