Directions for Completing the Emotional Competency Inventory – University Ed.

The Emotional Competence Inventory - University (ECI-U), is a self-assessment tool that will help you better understand your behaviors and how frequently you exhibit these behaviors. 

Below are the instructions for taking the survey.  NOTE- you will need your net id and student id number from your I card to complete this inventory.  The assessment will take 20-30 minutes.  A printed report of your ECI-U results will be given to you at the conference. 

Assessment Instructions:

Go to the Illinois Leadership^tm website:  http://www.illinoisleadership.uiuc.edu. and click on ECI-U. 

In the left column, click on “Registration.”

      Register as a “UIUC student”

      To answer the question, “Reason for taking the ECI-U?”  Click the drop down option box and select “Leadership Center Program”

      Select “HKN” in the category section.

      Then complete the basic demographic information.  Make sure you enter you net id (ex. sethomps) and your student id number (9 digit purple number from your I card ex. 65 1254577) correctly. 

Once you complete this registration, choose the option “Take ECI-U Now”.  Enter your net id and student id number again.  Directions for taking the assessment are online.  Read the instructions and complete the assessment. 

360 Reviewer Selection:

Prior to selecting your reviewers, identify 5 or more people who you would like to complete the 360 portion of the assessment for you.  Make sure you have their e-mail addresses with you when you complete this reviewer selection! Also, once you have entered this information into the database, it will automatically send them a request to complete this assessment.  We strongly suggest that you send them an e-mail prior to completing the reviewer selection to let them know:

      this message is not junk mail

      he/she will need the user name and password contained in the e-mail to access the inventory

      you request an urgent reply by October 22, 2004.

Go to the Illinois Leadership^tm website:  http://www.illinoisleadership.uiuc.edu.  and click on ECI-U. 

In the left column click on “360 reviewers”.  Follow the prompts by indicating:

      you are a “UIUC student”

      enter your net id and student id number

      select the relationship you have with your first reviewer and then enter their e-mail address, first name and last name.  Repeat this process for all the reviewers.
